Traffic Congestion: Laxmi Mandir Tiraha Project Incomplete Sans Railway Land | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Although chief minister Ashok Gehlot is all set to inaugurate the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha project soon, city’s first signal-free traffic project would remain incomplete as the enforcement department of the Jaipur Development Authority failed to acquire a piece land adjacent to the Tonk Phatak.
Officials said, the civic body could not take over the land from the railways because of a meeting held between the state government and the railways in 2021. Following a series of trouble between the government and the railways the meeting was held where it was decided that railways and the state government would not acquire each other’s land without permission or forcefully.
“Most probably this is the reason why a section of JDA officials is not keen on to acquire the piece of land. Whatever documents are available, it is clear that this land belongs to JDA and lying unutilised for years. But because of the decisions taken in the meeting it is becoming difficult to acquire the land unless the railways hand it over,” said a Jaipur Development Authority official.
In a meeting regarding this land, North Western Railway officials had made it clear that they want to utilize the land as part of the renovation project of the Gandhinagar Railway Station. JDA officials stated it means the signal-free traffic project, a dream project of the chief minister, would remain incomplete and motorists can brace for huge traffic congestion on the Barkat Nagar side of the Tonk Phatak.
“All vehicles plying on the Tonk Puliya-bound flank of Tonk Road intending to take a right turn towards Sahakar Marg or any other lanes between Laxmi Mandir and Gandhi Nagar Tirahas would now take the underpass of the Tonk Puliya. On the Barkat Nagar side there is always a major congestion whenever Tonk Phatak gets closed for train movements. It would also have impact on railway passengers who are bound to Gandhinagar station to take trains,” said a JDA engineer.
