Dy collectors suspended for not heeding transfer order
Five deputy collectors and nine tehsildars have been suspended by the revenue minister in Maharashtra for failing to take up new assignments. These officers, who were initially posted in Mumbai and western Maharashtra, were shifted to Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. The revenue department had given them sufficient time to assume charge in their new posts, but many did not comply and instead attempted to have their transfers revoked. The suspended officers will now face a departmental probe. This is the first time in recent years that such action has been taken against indiscipline.
