Transgender Applicant: Maharani College Awaits Guidelines To Give Admission To Transgender Applicant | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Almost a month after the Rajasthan University in an academic council meeting had approved that Noor Shekhawat, who is seeking admission, should be given admission in University Maharani College as a “special case”, the college is waiting for guidelines to complete the admission process.
Noor is the first transgender in Rajasthan to get a birth certificate.
As per the minutes of the meeting of the academic council meeting held on September 2, signed by former vice-chancellor Rajeev Jain and registrar Kalu Ram, an agenda item was tabled and the minutes state, “To consider the admission case of Noor Shekhawat in Trans Women case as a special case at the University Maharani College, Jaipur in B.A. Course and resolved that Noor Shekhawat be admitted in B.A. Course University Maharani College as a special case at over and above sanctioned seats and on minimum passing marks.”
On Friday, 30-year-old Shekhawat said, “The University administration had approved that my admission should be done as a special case but still I am waiting and checking with the authorities regularly. Due to my voice, people judge me to be aggressive by nature, but it is my natural voice and not any kind of aggression. I was told to get a letter from the University, and I have submitted that too, whereas if my admission is to be done as a special case, then these should not be needed.”
Officials from Maharani College said that they have written to higher authorities and are seeking guidelines to complete the admission process. “This is a new step that the college administration will be taking, and we have to follow all procedures to complete the admission process. We have written to the higher authorities seeking guidance on how to complete the admission process,” said Prof Nimali Singh, principal of Maharani College.
