Tricolour: Man Climbs Atop Tower With Tricolour To Protest Arrest | Jaipur News

Jaipur: High drama and panic prevailed at Fatehpur town on Sunday when a 26-year-old man climbed atop a mobile phone tower, holding a tricolour and a rope in his hand and threatening to commit suicide in protest against what he called a false accusation of rape against him.

Nand Lal alias Nandu claimed police wrongly implicated him in a case of rape of a minor and that he spent four months in jail in the case. It took nearly five hours for police and local administration officials to persuade him to climb down.
Police said Nand Lal hurled abuses at the local police and administration from atop the tower and claimed a friend of his had eloped with the minor girl. “I was arrested in this case, and I spent four months in jail. I finally got bail from the high court. Police should answer why I was jailed for a crime I did not commit,” he screamed.

“We took rescue measures and brought him down after a high drama of five hours. We asked him to fight his case in the court instead of engaging in this kind of drama,” said Sikar SP Parish Deshmukh to TOI. The case under the POCSO Act is under probe. TNN
