Jaipur: A day after a woman and her two children, aged five and two, were murdered in their Jhalana residence, the city police have identified the prime suspect as Shivraj Singh Tomar, a 23-year-old man, residing near the victim’s house.
The police said that Tomar is on the run.
According to police officers, Tomar, the main suspect, lived in the house opposite the victim’s family and worked as a newspaper hawker while also studying at a coaching centre.Citing the preliminary investigation, sources within the police revealed that there were daily disputes between the two families, often stemming from minor issues such as the spilling of wastewater onto the road.
However, approximately two months ago, a scuffle escalated quickly, and Tomar harboured resentment after the victim, Suman Bisht (23), directed invectives towards his mother. Despite Tomar typically avoiding such conflicts and remaining quiet, he allegedly plotted a conspiracy over the past two months. Subsequently, on Wednesday afternoon, around 12.30 pm, he purchased a knife from Satkar Shopping Centre and returned home. Seizing an opportunity, he entered the neighbouring house, closed the room’s gate, and horrifically murdered Suman and her two children, Jivyansh (5) and Havyansh (2).
“We found that the suspect fled the scene immediately after committing the crime,” said an official. Police also revealed that the suspect had inquired at a shop about knives capable of cutting flesh. Once knife wounds were discovered on the victim’s bodies, the police initiated inquiries at nearby utensil shops.
“We conducted searches in utensil shops around the Jhalana and Malviya Nagar areas and identified a store where the accused had purchased the knife. We have also retrieved CCTV footage from the shop,” stated an official.
Based on the footage, residents of the colony were interrogated, leading to the identification of Tomar as the suspect. However, when the police arrived at his home, he was nowhere to be found. The accused had taken measures to conceal his identity, having purchased items like a handkerchief, muffler, shirt, etc. Currently, the police are interrogating Tomar’s family members as part of their ongoing investigation.
