Tuberculosis: Jailed Murder Convict Dies In Kota Hospital | Jaipur News
Kota: A 56-year-old old murder convict lodged in Kota Central jail died on Monday in New Medical College Hospital (NMCH) in Kota, where he was rushed earlier in the morning. He was stated to be suffering from tuberculosis and hypertension and was under treatment for some time.
Police and jail authorities handed over the body to the family after post-mortem on Tuesday morning and lodged a case for investigation.The deceased, Kalyan Kumar (56), was a resident of Sangod area in Kota district. He and his elder son were booked for murder in 2015 and the court convicted the two to life imprisonment in 2022. Since then Kalyan Kumar was lodged in Kota Central Jail while his son was lodged in the open jail in Hanumangarh.
Kumar suffered from tuberculosis and hypertension and was under treatment with timely medical check-ups, said Paramjeet Singh Sidhu, superintendent of jail. Kumar complained of health complications on Monday morning following which he was rushed to NMCH.

The Madras High Court has ordered the trial in the murder cases of two brothers in Tuticorin district to be conducted inside the premises of Palayamkottai central prison in Tirunelveli district. The court made this decision considering the life threat to witnesses. The judge emphasized that conducting trials in jail premises is not new and is justified to ensure the safety of witnesses and accused. The trial is to be completed within two months.
