Two MBBS students arrested for running narcotics biz in city | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Two MBBS students from a private medical university in Jaipur were arrested by the crime branch for allegedly running a narcotics peddling trade, mostly targeting college students.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Kailash Chandra Bishnoi said that crime branch teams arrested Piyush Rao (20), a resident of Mahendragarh district of Haryana, and Aditya Sharma (21), a native of Aligrh in Uttar Pradesh.
Cops found that both accused were in their 3rd year of MBBS course at a private university. Bishnoi added that police teams seized over 1 kg of charas, and 32 grams of ganja during the search.
Additional DCP (crime) Suresh Choudhary said that preliminary investigations have uncovered that Rao and Sharma not only consumed drugs themselves but also engaged in selling them.
In their statement, the police mentioned that the two accused individuals started dealing drugs with the intention of making a hefty profit. According to an official, the accused purchased drugs from a person named Saurabh Choudhary in Haryana, paying him Rs 1.80 lakh. The drug consignment was then transported to Jaipur using a private bus.
“We have identified Saurabh and booked him in our FIR. Efforts are also underway to track him down,” said an official.
The duo informed the police that they had only recently started selling drugs in the city. However, police sources suspect that the accused had been operating the drug racket for approximately six months prior to their arrest.
“It is not a simple task for someone to begin receiving substantial drug shipments from another state and distributing them within the city. Our assessment suggests that this network has been in operation for at least the past six months, if not longer,” an official said.
