Two Spells Of Monsoon Give Dams A Lease Of Life In State | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Heavy rainfall early this week has given a new lease of life to the reservoirs and dams across the state. Majority of the dams have attained elevation in their water level. Bisalpur dam, which has a full storage capacity of 315.50 RL/metre, has attained a level of 310.50 RL/meter till Saturday evening. Authorities of the water resources department stated that two spells of the monsoon have been fruitful for reservoirs in the state.

“The dam is getting good amount of water so far. As only two spells of monsoon are completed and monsoon season is still left, we hope to reach at a water level where we will have to open the gates of the dam at least once in this year,” said Manish Bansal, executive engineer, water resources department posted at the Bisalpur dam said. Likewise, the dams which are benefited the most are in Kota. Both the dams in Kota, including Kota barrage and Jawahwar Sagar, are 96% and 76% filled respectively. So far, authorities had to open the gates of these dams to divert excess water for irrigation purpose. Authorities of the water resources department stated that since at least 45 more days of monsoon are left for Rajasthan, there is a possibility that some of the dams in the state might be fully filled. “After almost three years majority of the dams in the state including smaller and bigger are getting good amount of water in their catchment areas,” an officer of water resources department said.
