Underground Parking: Cm To Open 1st Signal-free Traffic Crossing Of City Today |
Jaipur: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate two important projects in Jaipur and also lay the foundation stones for four new projects on Thursday.
Gehlot will inaugurate the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha project on Tonk Road, the first signal-free traffic crossing of Jaipur, at around 10:30am, said officials. He would then head to Badi Chaupar in Wall City, where he would lay the foundation stone for extension of Jaipur Metro Line 1 from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar.
At 12pm, the CM would visit Ramniwas Bagh and inaugurate the underground parking project executed by Jaipur Development Authority (JDA). He would then lay the foundation stone for three satellite hospitals – on Jaipur Ajmer National Highway, at Shivdaspura, and on Delhi Road. The traffic department of Jaipur Police has confirmed that there will not be any traffic diversions for the CM’s programmes on Thursday. However, traffic in Walled City areas and on Tonk Road may move slow for a while, said officials.
“No diversions have been planned for the chief minister’s programme on Thursday. The programme on Tonk Road would take place on a road adjacent to the main road where the underpass has been constructed. At Badi Choupar, the CM would stay only for a few minutes and then move inside Ramniwas Bagh,” said DCP (traffic) Prahlad Singh Krishnia.

Signal-free tiraha will lead to more traffic lights and foot overbridges
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) plans to install new traffic signals and construct a footbridge near the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha signal-free traffic project. However, officials claim that this project may worsen the situation for motorists and pedestrians. Vehicles will be redirected to take U-turns through the congested underpass below the Tonk Puliya, and pedestrians will not be allowed to cross the road. The JDA was unable to acquire the necessary land adjacent to the Tonk Phatak, making the project incomplete and causing potential traffic congestion in the area.
