Underpass: Jda Plans To Start New Underpass At B2 Bypass With No Inauguration | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The B2 Bypass crossing on Tonk Road may become the city’s second signal free crossing during the course of the ongoing elections without any formal inauguration. Engineers had claimed that the work for the underpass is almost over and may be ready to handle traffic within the next fortnight.
“It would take another 10-12 days to make the under-construction underpass at the B2 Bypass crossing ready for traffic. Now, it’s up to the officials of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to decide on the inauguration dates,” said an engineer of JDA.
Officials stated that once the project is ready, they may seek permission from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to allow traffic movement through this underpass so that motorists do not have to face severe traffic congestion at this crossing.
“The condition of the crossing is not at all conducive for traffic movement. So, even during the course of the election we may send a request to ECI to allow traffic through the new underpass. Since the project had been announced earlier and the deadline had crossed, ECI may allow traffic movement without any formal inauguration,” another official stated.
Engineers claimed that once traffic starts moving through the underpass it would hardly take a week to remove the blockade on the Tonk Road crossing. It means Durgapura-bound vehicles from Sanganer side and Sanganer-bound vehicles from Durgapura side need not have to take any diversion. These vehicles would be able to move straight on Tonk Road from this crossing.
