Unidentified youths spark midnight panic by opening fire in residential colony in Jaipur | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A group of unidentified youths caused havoc in a residential colony in the city by firing shots at parked cars, racing through the colony on two motorcycles while brandishing firearms, and assaulting nearly four residents late on Friday night.
The incident occurred shortly after 11.30pm at Sindhi Colony near Durgapura bus stand under Jawhar Circle police station. Panicked residents told TOI that the ruckus started when a security guard of the colony confronted two youths who arrived there with liquor bottles in their hands.
As the youths verbally abused the guard, some residents gathered there and attempted to pacify the agitated youths, but the youths began issuing threats. With more residents reaching the scene, the two youths fled, but they returned with their friends on two motorcycles.
Residents said the youths raced through the colony on the motorcycles while brandishing guns, firing shots, and causing fear. They also assaulted nearly four residents. One of the residents said the youths fired shots at two of his cars parked outside his house, shattering their windowpanes, before speeding away on the bikes.
After the alarmed residents called police, a team from Jawahar Circle police station promptly arrived on the scene, reviewed footage from CCTV cameras installed in the area, and began efforts to identify the culprits. However, there was no trace of them till Saturday night.
“It was a terrifying experience for us, and we are all in shock as it took place in our locality. Our neighbourhood is generally peaceful due to its proximity to Durgapura bus stand, which usually bustles with activity all through the night,” said a resident to TOI.
Youths fired several rounds to create panic among residents of the colony
Jaipur: Police said the first two youths had first had a scuffle with some residents over a dispute with the security guard. The two youths were then joined by four to five other youths who fired several rounds to incite panic among the residents. “Based on the inputs found from the CCTV footage, we have dispatched teams in various directions to arrest the miscreants,” said a police official.
