Union Minister Smriti Irani: Smriti Irani urges Rajasthan voters to ensure victory of ‘Dharma’ by voting for BJP | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Union minister Smriti Irani on Thursday described Rajasthan voters as “Ram Bhakts” and urged them to ensure the victory of “Dharma” by voting for BJP in the November 25 polls.
Addressing a gathering in Tonk’s Deoli-Uniara constituency for party candidate Vijay Baisla, Irani trained guns on the governing Congress and told the voters they “shouldn’t forget that former party president Sonia Gandhi had denied the presence of Lord Ram”.
“Look at the shamelessness of Congress. Madam (Sonia Gandhi), who was running the Union government with remote control then, displayed her arrogance by giving an affidavit in court that Bhagwan Ram doesn’t exist,” Irani said.
The allusion apparently was to a Supreme Court affidavit filed by the erstwhile Manmohan Singh-led UPA-I government in 2007 in the Sethusamudram case, saying “there is no historical proof of Ram”.
Continuing her attack, Irani said: “The one who said Ram doesn’t exist…. her son (Rahul Gandhi) and daughter Priyanka Gandhi are running to temples seeking votes of Ram Bhakts. Congress showed great urgency in terming Lord Ram non-existent but didn’t show the same seriousness in bringing the perpetrators of the (2008) Jaipur serial blasts to justice.”
The Rajasthan high court had earlier this year acquitted four blast suspects and slammed state police over their “shoddy investigation”.
Irani also referred to the beheading of Udaipur tailor Kanhiya Lal in June last year over an alleged sharing of a post offensive to the Prophet, and accused Congress of spreading “a sense of terror and fear”. “Those who have refused the existence of Ram are not of any use to them (Ram Bhakts). On November 25, we will go to the polling booth, press the lotus symbol, chant Jai Shree Ram and (ensure) triumph of Dharma,” said Irani.
The Union minister also referred to rising crimes against women in the state and accused the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government of failing to check them. “I am shocked when I heard that during discussions on the issue in the assembly, a Congress minister (Shanti Dhariwal) says Rajasthan is the land of muscular men while defending the incidents. I would like to ask CM Gehlot…. whose blood doesn’t boil after hearing the incidents of crime against women?” Irani asked. She also slammed the Gehlot government over paper leaks and claimed that gold and cash found in a government office a few months ago was evidence of the administration’s involvement.
