Kota: Calling upon students to utilise education gained in the university, for building the nation, governor Kalraj Mishra and Chancellor of University of Kota termed the university a ‘Prakash Stambh‘ (lighthouse) that grooms the young generation for the nation.
Governor Mishra was speaking at the 9th Convocation ceremony of University of Kota, organised in the UIT auditorium on Tuesday where he gave away medals, degrees to the students who performed outstandingly in various streams of the courses in the academic year 2020.
Out of the total 57 gold medals, female students bagged 42 medals and 25 of the total 37 Doctor of Literature degrees. Applauding the students, governor Mishra said, “Where woman is honored, there exists purity and positivity and gods dwell there.” He added, “If the environment of positivity is to be created in the country, women must be empowered and taken to progress and there should not be any hesitation for the same.”
The word ‘Vishav Vidhalaya’ is prefixed with ‘Vishav’ that denotes a combination of studies of not only one’s surrounding background but also of the world, he added. Education creates self confidence which is the biggest power with oneself, he further said and asked the students to awaken their inner power with self confidence.
Referring to the New Education Policy (NEP), the governor urged the universities to develop their curriculum and syllabus on the line of NEP and in a way that one can be a job provider rather than a job seeker.
“The particular knowledge that shapes and directs life is what they call science and India has got a rich culture and tradition of science with her great Rishis,” the governor said, adding it is the duty of the new generation to take the same rich tradition of science ahead through universities.
The governor on the occasion also inaugurated Constitution Park and Gandhi Garden in the university premises.
