Vastra: Garment Exporters Urge Govt To Revive Textile Expo Vastra | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Garment exporters from Rajasthan are feeling ignored as the state government has discontinued the business-to-business textile and readymade garment show that used to attract nearly 500 international and domestic buyers every year.
One of the important trade fairs for garment exporters, the event allowed them to find new buyers and reach newer markets.
But after the Centre stopped providing financial assistance, the state government did not show interest to run it.
The show that started in 2012 and became an important event for the industry on the calendar was abandoned after 2017.
Zakir Hussain, president of Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan (GEAR), said, “After the first event in 2012, Rajasthan’s garment and textile business has seen a growth of 20% every year. Crores of rupees have been spent in branding the event at the international level. If Vastra is not organized now, then all the money spent by the government over the years on the promotion of the event will go to waste.”
