Vasundhara Raje skips BJP’s ‘Parivartan Sankalp Yatra’ on home turf
JAIPUR: Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday remained absent from BJP’s ‘Parivartan Sankalp Yatra‘ in Jhalawar district, a region she has represented politically for 33 years.
Raje was an elected representative from Jhalawar in the Lok Sabha for five terms from 1989 to 2003. Following that, she continued her political journey by serving as an MLA from Jhalrapatan constituency within Jhalawar district. Raje previously played a prominent role in leading state-wide BJP tours in the run-up to Rajasthan assembly elections from 2003 till 2018.
BJP’s vice president Mukesh Dhadich, the party’s in-charge for Kota division, said, “The yatra received a huge response in Jhalawar. MP Jhalawar Dushyant Singh accompanied us in the yatra for a brief period during the day. I have no idea why former CM Raje was not present.”
TOI contacted Raje’s office for her comments but received no response.
The first phase of the yatra started at Trinedra Temple at Sawai Madhopur on September 2 and concluded in Jaipur after covering 47 assembly segments with an 1,847-km tour. The yatra entered Jaipur from Bhankrota on Jaipur-Ajmer NH and concluded at the Shiva Temple in Raja Park, which is part of the Malviya Nagar constituency represented by BJP MLA Kali Charan Saraf. In Jaipur city, seven constituencies were covered in six hours.
In order to reach all constituencies, a total of 18 km of travel in the city was scheduled, according to Raghav Sharma, BJP’s district president in Jaipur. All BJP MLAs from the city participated in the yatra here.
