Vegetable Vendors: Encroachments Removed From Lal Kothi Sabji Mandi Back In An Hour | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Encroachments by vegetable vendors on the rear side of Lal Kothi Mandi and Sahakar Marg were removed on Monday morning, but they were back to their positions within an hour.

Encroachments on these roads block traffic movement and waste from nearby localities dumped here also blocks the road. Piles of garbage are dumped at the back of the vegetable mandi.
Officials from JMC-Greater said that on Monday, action was taken after receiving a complaint against vegetable vendors by the agriculture department. During the morning hours, a waste collection truck and JCB machine was also parked in the middle of the road which further affected movement of vehicles.

JMC officials said that most of the vegetable vendors sitting outside are separate from those allotted space inside the mandi. However, some vendors who have shops inside the mandi also have additional carts outside on the roads.
“We received a complaint from Krishi Bhawan that the vegetable vendors have completely blocked the road and vehicles are not able to pass through. We reached around 11:30am on Monday and removed the temporary encroachments and seized around 14-15 carts. We understand that these vendors come back again within hours of action taken by us, and for this we have suggested senior officials in the municipal corporation to deploy two guards at the site for a few weeks,” said an official of JMC-Greater.
