Maharashtra, MPCB draft war plan to battle air pollution
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has issued guidelines to curb pollution in Mumbai. If the air quality levels slip into the ‘very severe’ category, construction activity must be stopped, heavy vehicles barred, and polluting installations shut down. An odd-even scheme will also be enforced for private vehicles. The state government has also issued similar guidelines, including reducing the height of tin sheets around construction sites and banning garbage burning. The MPCB has set up an evaluation panel to check the effectiveness of pollution control devices.

Israel-Hamas war already hitting regional economies: IMF chief
The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas is negatively impacting the economies of neighboring countries, particularly those dependent on tourism, according to the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The effects of the conflict are already visible in countries like Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan. The war could also have wider economic consequences, including a decrease in tourist inflows, increased insurance costs, and a potential rise in refugee numbers. Despite this, Saudi Arabia’s domestic economic reforms and investment opportunities are expected to continue.
