Waste Collection: Swachhta Prahari Vans To Monitor Dumping Of Garbage In Open In City | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Cleanliness drives were conducted across the city by both Jaipur Municipal Corporation – Greater (JMC-Greater) and JMC-Heritage as part of the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ initiative.
JMC-Greater mayor Somya Gurjar on Sunday flagged off a Swachhta Prahari Van that will monitor open waste dumping in the city and issue challans to offenders.
“JMC-Greater has started the Swachhta Prahari 24×7 van to keep an eye on those spreading garbage on the roads and to issue challans on the spot. Even after door-to-door waste collection process was regularised in localities, people continue to throw garbage on roads and this initiative aims to stop this habit,” said Gurjar.
On Sunday, a cleanliness drive was conducted in Sanganer zone and all the wards. The mayor also appealed to shopkeepers and street vendors to keep wet and dry waste in separate dustbins.
In JMC-Heritage, around 400 people participated in a cleanliness drive from the civic body headquarters till Jaleb Chowk.
JMC-Heritage deputy mayor Aslam Farooqui said, “Along with the corporation, every citizen should also join this campaign and help in keeping their house as well as their locality, colony and the entire city clean”.
Rajendra Singh Shekhawat, the commissioner of Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage, said, “Cleaning and maintaining cleanliness is not only the responsibility of sanitation workers or the corporation but must be shared by all of us citizens. Only when every person becomes conscious about cleanliness can the country become reliably clean.”
