Water Supply: Walled City Areas To Get Better Water Supply | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Public health and engineering department’s (PHED) ongoing work of laying down pipelines aims at facilitating better water supply to households of the walled city by realigning the central transmission main (CTM) system of the Bisalpur supply.

For years, a mainline has been connecting PHED’s pumphouse at Jawahar Circle with the pumphouse at Ramniwas Garden through JLN Marg. From there, another pipeline has been connecting the Brahmapuri pumphouse.
Now, PHED engineers are laying down another line that would take left from OTS Crossing towards Jhalana Bypass and then Jawahar Nagar and Govid Marg to reach Agra Road at Transport Nagar. This line would finally get connected with the new filter plant and the pumphouse at Bandh Gate on Ramgarh Road and with the Brahmapuri pumphouse.

“The Bandh Gate pumphouse and the subsequent new filter plant were once connected with Ramgarh Lake. The Brahmapuri pumphouse was connected to the Ram Niwas Park pumphouse. The pressure of water supply in areas catered to by these pumphouses are very low. Now that these three pumphouses are getting a pipeline, water supply in those areas would be steady,” said PHED superintendent engineer (project) Satish Jain.
As per the new plan, a portion of water supplied to the Bandh Gate pumphouse would be supplied directly to households of a few localities. While a portion of water would be pumped to the newly restored Laxman Doongri pumphouse to supply to areas where the land level is high.
“To facilitate this supply, we are also constructing an intermediate transfer pumphouse on Jhalana Bypass adjacent to the GSI office. The land where this pumphouse is coming up belongs to the groundwater department,” added Jain. This project would be completed by October, but the Bisalpur II project is expected to be inaugurated before that.
