Water Tank: Minor Cousins Commit Suicide In Barmer Village |

Jaisalmer: Two teenage cousins, one studying in class 9 and the other in class 11, apparently committed suicide together by jumping into a water tank about 2 km from their home in Lakhu village under Dhorimanna police station in Barmer district late on Sunday evening.
According to Sukhram Vishnoi, SHO Dhorimanna, family members reported to police that the duo had taken goats to drink from the water tank when they slipped and fell into it.
The boy, aged 17, was a student of class 11 and the girl, aged 16, was studying in class 9 at the senior secondary school in Lakhu village, the SHO said.
Police pulled out the bodies from the water tank and after conducting a postmortem, handed them over to family members, Vishnoi said.
The owner of the field where the water tank is situated found the slippers and clothes of the duo lying outside, upon which he informed villagers and later the police, the SHO said.

The Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) in Jaipur will construct a water tank with a capacity of over 7 lakhs litres to provide water to residents of five wards. Irrigation tank for agriculture, dont drain water from it: HC
The Madras High Court has issued an interim injunction to prevent authorities from draining water from an irrigation tank in Virudhunagar district, under the pretext of desilting. The court stated that water stored in the tank should be preserved for agricultural use. A resident of Vilakkucheri village filed a public interest litigation, stating that maintenance work should be carried out between January and May, when there is no rainfall. The petitioner requested that the work be postponed to the summer season.
