Model Code: Gehlot To Go On Inauguration Spree Of Incomplete Projects |

“As far as projects executed by the JDA are concerned, the CM will inaugurate the Gandhi Darshan Museum, the signal-free traffic project at the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha, Jhotwara ROB (railway over bridge), underground parking lot in Ramniwas Bagh and the Silvan Park near the Jaipur-Agra Road. The CM may also inaugurate another signal-free traffic project at the B2-Bypass—Tonk Road crossing,” said a JDA official.
Of these six projects, JDA has completed only the first phase for three—Gandhi Darshan Museum, Jhotwara ROB and the B2B-Bypass. Officials said that the projects were divided in phases to ensure that the government can inaugurate them before the assembly elections.
There are several civil works to be completed at the underground parking lots in Ramniwas Bagh. “Only the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha project and the Silvan Park project are complete,” another JDA official added.
Gehlot will also inaugurate the Jaipur Constitution Club near Vidhan Sabha that has been designed on the lines of Constitution Club of India. But the RHB has not completed the project. “We have finished construction of two floors of this four-storey building,” an RHB official told TOI.
The CM will not inaugurate the most sought after Bisalpur II project. The main pipeline from Bisalpur to Jaipur has already been augmented to transfer 200 MLD of additional water. Still, the project cannot be inaugurated right now.
“There are several technicalities involved. We cannot inaugurate this project as it won’t be used on a daily basis right now,” said a PHED engineer.

Laxmi Mandir Tiraha project incomplete sans railway land
The signal-free traffic project in Jaipur, known as the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha project, will remain incomplete due to the failure of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to acquire a piece of land adjacent to the Tonk Phatak. The land is currently owned by the railways, and a meeting held between the state government and the railways in 2021 decided that land would not be acquired without permission. JDA officials are not keen on acquiring the land, and this will result in traffic congestion on the Barkat Nagar side of the Tonk Phatak.
Signal-free tiraha will lead to more traffic lights and foot overbridges
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is planning to install new traffic signals near the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha signal-free project to make it feasible. They also plan to construct a new footbridge. However, some officials believe that the project will worsen the situation for motorists and pedestrians. The project would restrict certain vehicle movements and pedestrian crossings, leading to increased congestion. The failure to acquire land adjacent to the Tonk Phatak has also left the project incomplete, causing further traffic issues. In New Delhi, the newly developed Bharat Mandapam has become congested due to increased visitor numbers. The Public Works Department is considering measures to alleviate the problem.
