Jaipur: Governor Kalraj Mishra appointed retired DGP ML Lather as the state information commissioner on Thursday.
Exercising the powers under sub-section (3) of Section 15 of the Right to Information Act 2005, the governor appointed him for three years effective from the date of joining and until he attains the age of 65.
Lather is likely to assume the office in a couple of days. His biggest challenge will be to reduce the pendency of RTI applications. Lather has navigated through the newly introduced weekly review system. His name was suggested by the state to the Governor’s House for approval which was granted on Thursday.
