Udid: Centre Makes Udid Cards Must For Disabled People From April 1 | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Centre has decided to make UDID (unique disability identity) cards for specially-abled persons mandatory from April 1. However, the state government is yet to integrate the state-run portal for specially-abled persons with the centre’s Swavalambancard portal to create UDID cards for persons with disabilities (PwDs).
“If the state government delays in integrating both the portals, the new applicants in the state would be deprived of benefits of the 17 central government schemes,” said Divyang Adhikar Mahasangh (DAM) national vice-president Hemant Bhai Goyal, who had written to the Centre with a complaint about the delay in the linking of both the portals.
“The minister has decided to integrate both the portals. It has been conveyed to the Centre. The state’s portal will cease to exist after that,” social justice and empowerment department secretary Samit Sharma had earlier said.
The move followed a directive from the department of empowerment of PwDs under the ministry of social justice and empowerment to the state government’s directorate of specially-abled persons. tnn
