Will Contest In All 200 Seats, No Pact With Cong: Bsp State Prez | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) state president Bhagwan Singh Baba said the party will contest in all 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan but will mainly focus on 60 seats in nine districts.
Baba said, BSP’s target ‘is to not let any party get the majority mark’ and, thereby, ensure a ‘balance of power’ in the state. “There is no information from the party high command about an alliance (with the Congress) in Rajasthan. We will work according to the orders of Behenji (Mayawati). We are preparing ourselves to contest in all the 200 seats, ” Baba told TOI.
In a major jolt to the party, all the six BSP MLAs had merged with the ruling Congress in September 2019.
Baba said the 60 seats the party will focus on fall in nine districts including Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Alwar, Dausa, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh and Ganganagar. “We’ve won seats in these districts earlier too. Hence, we will give special focus on these districts for the assembly elections. Our preparations are on, and our target is to win that many seats which will prevent any party from getting the majority mark. We, therefore, want to ensure a balance of power in the state,” he said. To achieve this target, the party is running ‘Baspa (BSP) chali gaon ke aur’ campaign in the villages of the state. “All senior and junior party workers are visiting the villages and booths to sensitise people about BSP’s ideology and strengthen the cadre across the state,” he said.
