Woman VC: Alpana Kateja Is Ru’s First Full-time Woman Vc In Its 76 Long Years |

Jaipur: Governor Kalraj Mishra appointed professor Alpana Kateja as vice-chancellor (VC) of Rajasthan University (RU) on Monday, making her the first full-time woman VC of RU it its history of 76 years.
The governor also appointed Anil Kumar Rai as the vice-chancellor of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shekhawati University, Sikar.
“The governor has made these appointments in consultation with the state government on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor Search Committee of the universities. On Sunday evening, chief minister Ashok Gehlot had a special meeting with the governor for an hour, in which the vacant posts of VCs were also discussed,” stated a press release issued by the university.
Anil Kumar Rai is the dean of the Humanities and Sociology department of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha, while Kateja is professor of Economics department, RU. Kateja was previously principal of Maharani College and is currently HRDC director. Before Kateja, the only woman as RU’s acting VC was Kanta Ahuja.

The assistant professors will be appointed in various departments, including anatomy, biochemistry, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, and radiodiagnosis. The MBBS seats in the institute have already been increased to 200 from 150, and there are around 300 PG seats in Vimsar.
Asian Development Bank appoints Bhargav Dasgupta as Vice-President for market solutions
Bhargav Dasgupta, the MD and CEO of ICICI Lombard General Insurance, has been appointed as the Vice-President (market solutions) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a three-year term. He will oversee the operations of ADB’s Private Sector Operations Department and Office of Markets Development and Public-Private Partnerships. Dasgupta, who has more than 35 years of experience, replaces Ashok Lavasa. ADB is dedicated to the development of a prosperous and sustainable Asia-Pacific region.
