Kota: A POCSO court in Bundi on Saturday convicted a 22-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh to 20 years imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Keshoraipatan town in Bundi district. The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 70,000 upon the convict.
POCSO court – I in Bundi city sentenced Yunus Pathan, a resident of Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh to 20 year term in jail for abducting and raping a 17-year-old girl in Keshoraipatan town in Bundi district, where he was living as a tenant in May 2021, public prosecutor, POCSO court – I Rakesh Thakur said.
The father of the minor survivor lodged a report in Keshoraipatan police station on May 28, 2021 and alleged Yunus Pathan (22), who lived in a rented accommodation in his neighbourhood tempted his daughter, who fled away with him taking Rs 10,000 cash, gold and silver jewellery a day before on May, 2021, he said.
Police began a search operation for the minor girl and rescued her after 10 days from Nainwan town in Bundi district, where she was living with Yunus, he added.
On bases of minor girl’s statements, olice incorporated sections of rape under IPC and POCSO Act against Yunus and arrested him after medical examination of the survivor and initial investigation, since then he had been in jail under judicial custody, the public prosecutor said.
