World Cup: Cm Showed Disrespect For Vp, Constitutional Authority: Bjp | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Leader of Opposition Rajendra Singh Rathore on Friday said Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s questioning of Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s frequent visits to Rajasthan was akin to disrespect for a constitutional authority. BJP state president CP Joshi said Gehlot must either withdraw his statement or face legal repercussions for “compromising the cooperative federal structure of the Constitution”.
Gehlot, speaking at a public programme recently, had suggested that Dhankhar’s frequent visits to the poll-bound state were inappropriate, saying, “…please, it’s poll time. What will people think if you come so often? These are constitutional posts.”
Rathore at a press conference here, “Ridiculing constitutional positions and making indecent remarks against them has become a habit of CM Gehlot. Is he implementing a visa system in Rajasthan? Will the President, the Vice-President and the prime minister have to get a visa from the government to come here?”
Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had two days back reacted to Gehlot’s statement and said Dhankhar does not require a visa to visit Rajasthan.
Contending that since the Vice-President is from Rajasthan and can travel in the poll-bound state even after the model code of conduct comes into force, Rathore said, “I would like to remind Gehlot that the VP is from the state and comes from a family of farmers. He has raised the prestige of Rajasthan, but Gehlot has objections to it”. He said the code of conduct for polls does not prevent the President, the VP and PM from travelling. “They will continue to come to the state,” said the MLA from Churu.
Rathore accused Gehlot of indiscriminately turning the state government’s programmes into political ones by inviting Congress leaders to participate.
“Gehlot should answer how he took Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa to the inauguration of a government programme in Kota. Why do Congress leaders inaugurate the Mehangai Rahat Camps (inflation relief camps)? BJP is watching everything, and we will report it to the election commission,” said Rathore.
Rathore advised Gehlot to express regret and recall his statement on the Vice-President’s visit the way he (CM) did after making a statement on the judiciary earlier this month.
“The party is exploring all options and can initiate legal action against Gehlot if he does not recall his statement,” said Rathore.
