World Cup: Jda Carpeting Interior Roads At Lal Kothi For Signal-free Project | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Friday restarted carpeting the road adjacent to Lal Kothi Sabji Mandi and Kisan Bhawan, but its engineers were apprehensive about keeping the street vendors at bay once the work is over.
The JDA engineers said the recarpeted road would have a big impact on the recently implemented Signal-Free Traffic Project at the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha on Tonk Road.
“The interior roads on both sides of the Tiraha, especially those adjacent to the newly constructed underpass, have become important after we made the Tiraha signal-free. We have to keep the road adjacent to the Sabji Mandir free from the vendors for several reasons,”said a senior JDA engineer.
“First, it would help in swift traffic movement on that road. Second, if vendors are not allowed on that road, people coming to the Mandi would stop parking vehicles there and would not congest the roads near the underpass. Third, we can create ample designated parking space on the adjacent roads so that parked vehicles do not impact the traffic movement,” he added.
Officials said that with no option for vehicles plying on Sahakar Marg to turn right at the Tiraha, now there would be immense pressure on the road where the underpass has come up. In a worse situation, if vehicles get blocked on this road, the internal roads will become important to maintain the flow of traffic.
“We are going to complete the jobs of recarpeting these roads within next few days. After that, the ball would be in the court of the JDA’s enforcement department, the police department and the officials of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (Greater)’s officials to keep these vendors at bay,” another engineer added.
JDA officials said another major concern for the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha project is the Tonk Phatak on the Barkat Nagar side of the Tonk Puliya.
