Yash: Deodhar Trophy: Aniket Named Vice-captain, Yash Included | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Rajasthan seamer Aniket Choudhary has earned a spot in the Central Zone squad for the upcoming Deodhar Trophy, an inter-zonal 50-over competition. While Venkatesh Iyer will lead the team, Aniket will be his deputy. The 15-member squad announced on Wednesday also includes Rajasthan opener Yash Kothari.
The tournament will be held in Puducherry between July 24 and August 4.
Left-arm seamer Aniket is the state’s spearhead bowler who is also a consistent performer. He recently flew to England as a net bowler to help the Indian team prepare for the World Test Championship final.
Aniket’s numbers were impressive in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 where he scalped 30 wickets in seven matches at an economy of 2.72. He also grabbed 11 wickets in six outings at Vijay Hazare Trophy last season.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Yash was the highest run-scorer for the team in Hazare Trophy with 306 runs to his name in four matches.
Yash Kothari, the right-hand batter, was also the top run-getter for the state in Ranji last season with 464 runs in seven games last year.
The tournament will be played in the zonal format for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
