Jaisalmer: A 25-year-old man was arrested by Barmer police on charge of abducting a minor girl five months ago. His younger brother was also arrested for providing him financial help and shelter when the cops were looking for him and the girl.
Naresh Kumar, a resident of Jalore district, faces charges of abducting the minor girl from the Vishnoi community in Dhorimanna area on January 21. He and his younger brother, Sunil Kumar, 22, were produced in court and forwarded to jail on Wednesday. The girl was detained and sent to Nari Niketan in Jodhpur. The trio was arrested in Jaipur.
Barmer SP Deepak Bhargava said a complaint about the abduction was lodged by the girl’s family and the case was registered under the POCSO Act and other IPC sections.
Even as SHO Sukhram was continuously looking for the accused duo and the girl, the two brothers had filed a habeous corpus in the high court, and its hearing was scheduled on July 4. TNN
