Youtuber: Cabs, Private Vehicles Create Traffic Chaos At Jaipur Rly Stn | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Lack of designated pickup points for app cabs and private cars inside the compound of Jaipur Junction Railway station acts as a nightmare for railway passengers who arrive at the station via long-distance trains.
Minutes after the arrival of express/mail trains at the station, the area in front of the escalator of the exit gate gets congested as private vehicles and app cabs park their vehicles right in front of the escalator to pick up the passengers. As a result, on most occasions the lane from the escalator to the main road gets chock-a-block and passengers have to wait for long in their cars to reach the main road.
The problem does not end here. E-rickshaws block the exit gate of the station compound hardly leaving any space for vehicles to take a right turn towards Ram Mandir Marg. Other vehicles trying to take a U-turn towards MI Road, barely 100 metres from the exit gate where the divider ends, further congest the road.
“Last week, I reached Jaipur around midnight. With no specific space demarcated for app cabs to pick up the passengers, I had called the driver in front of the escalator. Once I boarded my cab, it took me at least 25 minutes to reach Kabir Marg, which is barely 600 metres away. Everyone throngs to the escalator to pick up passengers. There are no restrictions,” said Avinash Sharma, a resident of Adarsh Nagar.
Traffic officials claimed that they try their best to keep the e-rickshaws away from the exit gate of the railway station. But with so many e-rickshaws, we need more manpower to keep strict vigil on them round-the-clock. “The railways should consider separate parking lots for private cars, auto rickshaws and app cabs inside the compound. The passengers should be instructed to walk down to the specific pick up points and board their vehicles,” said a traffic official.
Railway officials stated that they were in the process of regularizing pick-up and drop points inside the station compound. “One important information is that we are going to upgrade the Gandhi Nagar station within a few years and several trains would terminate at that station. This would also reduce burden on the Jaipur junction,” a railway official added.
