World Cup: Min To Open Jhotwara Rob Today, Project Incomplete Even After 5 Yrs | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: More than five years after the foundation stone of the project was laid, urban development and housing (UDH) minister Shanti Dhariwal is all set to inaugurate the Jhotwara Railway Over Bridge (ROB) on Thursday. However, the project is still far from completion and the engineers of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) had made a makeshift arrangement to facilitate the inauguration before the forthcoming Assembly election.
“We are actually converging the portion of the newly constructed ramp with the existing old ramp to facilitate the remaining part of the project. Vehicles coming from the Lata Circle side will take the old ramp to reach the Niwaru Road side exit. Around 50-metre after crossing the exit, the old ramp would get converged with the newly constructed ramp. From there vehicles can get down the ROB from either of two exits – one would end in front of the Titan Mall and the second just before Chomu Circle,” Ajay Pratap Singh Rathore, executive engineer (JDA), told TOI.
As per the original plan, JDA was supposed to dismantle the Lata Circle to Chomu Circle bound flank of the existing ROB and construct a new ramp instead. At the Khatipura Road – side of the Jhotwara crossing, JDA is constructing another ramp that would help Niwaru Road – bound and Chomu Circle-bound vehicles from the Khatipura Road to take the ROB.
“Even this ramp is not getting connected as of now. Vehicles who are to take the new ramp, would take a left turn towards Lata Circle at present and then these vehicles would take an-turn to take the ROB from the Lata Circle-side,” the engineer added.
Vehicles from the Lata Circle-side intending to take the Niwaru Road will take the old ramp and take left turn towards the Niwaru Road exit. Vehicles from Niwaru Road side intending to go towards Chomu Circle or Panipench can take same ramp and this ramp is connected with the newly constructed ramp of the ROB. “We are inaugurating the phase 1 of the project and the phase II (entire project) is expected to get complete within three to four months. The phase 1 was essential to complete the project sooner. Now that vehicles would again start moving on the ROB works for the remaining part would get smoother,” Devendra Gupta, the additional chief engineer looking after this project told TOI.
In July 2018, former CM Vasundhara Raje laid the foundation stone for this project.
