Rajasthan budget session starts with protests, 3 MLAs suspended | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The Budget session of the Rajasthan assembly began on Monday on a stormy note with the Opposition protesting over the paper leak controversy and seeking a CBI probe into the matter. Speaker CP Joshi suspended three agitating RLP MLAs for the day and ordered them to be marshalled out.
As soon as governor Kalraj Mishra stood up for his address, Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria raised the issue of paper leaks accusing the government of playing with the future of the youth. Following this, opposition members created an uproar. Three Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) MLAs then stormed into the Well of the House carrying placards demanding a CBI probe into paper leak cases. The BJP MLAs, who were on their feet, also joined the protest in the Well against the chief minister and the government.
Though the governor continued the speech ignoring protests for some time, he concluded midway by tabling the address.
3 RLP legislators continued agitations even as newly elected MLA’s oath-taking was on
After the governor left the House, it was adjourned for half-an-hour due to the uproar.When the House reassembled, the Speaker administered the oath to newly elected MLA Anil Sharma from Sardarshahar.
During the oath-taking exercise, RLP MLAs Pukhraj Garg, Narayan Beniwal and Indira Devi continued their protests while other opposition members sat quietly.When the Speaker’s warnings were ignored by the RLP MLAs, he ordered the marshal to take the three MLAs out of the House. He suspended them for the rest of the day.
But when male chief marshals held the hand of Indira Devi, BJP members raised protest. Later female marshals came and took her out.The House then paid homage to former West Bengal and Bihar governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, former MLAs Bhanwarlal Sharma, Rajendra Kumar Bhartiya and the victims of the Jodhpur cylinder blast incident.
The House was then adjourned for the day.
