Govt Promises Valmikis Priority In Sanitation Jobs | Jaipur News
Jaipur: After a meeting with a delegation of sanitation workers’ union, the state government on Wednesday agreed to their demand of giving priority to members from the Valmiki community in future recruitments.
Nand Kishore Dandoriya, president of Sanyukt Valmiki Evam Safai Shramik Sangh, said, “We had two main demands: first, that members from Valmiki community be given priority in recruitments, and second, that those who have worked on sewerage lines, door-to-door garbage collection on contract basis since 2018 be given preference. The state government has agreed to both the demands and an order will be issued regarding this.”
According to the budget announcement, 30,000 new sanitation workers are to be hired across Rajasthan. Dandoriya said the department will issue an advertisement on recruitments by end of this week.
In January, sanitation staff had protested demanding timely payment of dues and RGHS cards. TNN
