KOTA: A 17-year-old from Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh, preparing for IIT-JEE in Kota, hanged himself from the ceiling fan of his PG room in Mahaveer Nagar-II area of the city on Friday night.
The teenager, Bahadur Singh, was found hanging when his friend went to his room on Saturday morning, police said. He had come to Kota about two months ago.
This is the 15th sucide by a coaching student in Kota this year, equalling the 2022 tally, despite the administration’s claim to have put in place multiple measures to prevent such tragedies.
No suicide note found
The reason behind the extreme step taken by Singh was yet to be ascertained as no suicide note was recovered from the room, said Paramjeet Patel, circle inspector of Mahaveer Nagar police station.
The deceased teen was reportedly absent from his coaching classes for 3-4 days. His record from the coaching institute and other details were being collected, Patel said. The autopsy would be conducted after the arrival of his family members, who were informed of the tragedy, he added.
