Full-day Revenue Court Hears 100 Cases, Oks 80 | Jaipur News

Kota: A full-day revenue court was held in the office of the SDM of Manoharthana in Jhalawar district on Friday, and at least 100 revenue cases, some of them pending since 2005, were heard. As many as 80 of these cases were disposed of in this exercise, which is the first-of-its-kind in Rajasthan and was conceptualised by SDM Abhishek Charan.
Encouraged by an impressive turnout of farmers stuck in revenue cases and the disposal of 80 of the 100 cases in a single day, Jhalawar district collector Bharti Dixit has decided to organize such full-day courts in other subdivisions of the district. He has directed other SDMs to start the exercise in their respective areas.
Although normally at least three sittings a week are scheduled for hearing of revenue cases in the SDM court, some sittings are missed due to various reasons. Either the advocates are engaged in other bars, or the presiding official is busy in administrative affairs. As the court stayed closed due to the Covid pandemic, the list of pending cases became longer. “Keeping in view these situations, I decided to have a full-day court to relieve the farmers and reduce the pendency of cases. I conveyed the idea to the district collector, and she okayed it after a discussion,” said Charan.
The 100 revenue cases heard in the court on Friday related to illegal encroachment under Section 183 of the RT Act, perpetual injunction under Section 188 and, most importantly, 25-30 partition suits based on their pendency.
The full-day court was held from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm, and a large number of clients (farmers) had turned up with their legal counsels. One of the 80 cases disposed of was pending since 2005, said Charan, adding that some declaratory suits were also decided upon in the full-day court. “Unlike the Lok Adalat, where cases are decided upon on mutual agreement, the full-day court involves proper legal proceedings, hearing on one-to-one case, arguments and the delivery of decrees,” said Charan. The full-day court, he said, is an innovative step in the grievance redressal and courtroom mechanism, especially in the revenue court, and it is recommended to be held at the end of the month. tnn
