Jaipur: A team of Bichiwal police station in Bikaner on Friday arrested a woman and her accomplice for allegedly assaulting and blackmailing a man with a threat of implicating him in a fake rape case. The couple allegedly extorted Rs 1 lakh from the victim.
According to police, the matter came to light when the victim, Shyam Sundar (28) got admitted to PBM hospital in Bikaner after he was thrashed by two persons including a woman.
“The victim said that he met a woman identified as Revati(25) four years ago and both were in a relationship. During this time, the victim had paid her nearly Rs 10 lakh to fulfil her various demands. The man asked the woman to return her money. Instead of returning the money the woman started asking for more money and threatened him that she will implicate him in a rape case,” said a senior police officer of Bichiwal police station on Saturday.
Later, the woman along with her accomplice Nitesh (24) came to the house where the victim lived and thrashed her badly. “We have arrested both Revati and Nitesh on the charges of assault, blackmailing, criminal intimidation and trespass,” the officer added.
Police added that they have got some records in which it is found that the woman and her accomplice had blackmailed other persons in similar fashion.
“We are checking their criminal antecedents. Both were produced in a court from where they were sent to jail,” the officer added. TNN
