Laxmi Mandir Tiraha Beautification Work Begins; Work Expected To Be Over By May | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority has begun work for beautification of Laxmi Mandir Tiraha on Tonk Road. Officials said work is expected to get over by May. “There’s won’t be any traffic diversion for this. However, vehicles from Sahakar Marg intending to take left turn towards Rambagh Circle from the Tiraha may travel slow as the beautification work is going on at corner of the crossing,” said a JDA official.
The Laxmi Mandir Tiraha is one of the eight signals in the city, selected for traffic improvement and beautification – in line with Jaipur’s heritage and culture – by chief minister Ashok Gehlot, who had announced the list of these crossings in his Budget speech for the year 2020-21.
Keeping in terms with the announcement, the civic body has also proposed a facade development in the area along with sculptures of freedom fighters. Besides, the civic body will plant trees on the medians of Tonk Road as well as on Sahakar Marg.
“There will be statues of Vallabhbhai Patel, Sarojini Naidu, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad, Subash Chandra Bose and Frontier Gandhi – Abdul Gaffar Khan. Statues are under construction and will be placed at the corner of the crossing where Sahakar Marg meets Tonk Road,” said another official.
Meanwhile, piling work has started at the spot where the statues will come up along with a few traditional façades that resembles the Rajasthani style. “The facades are almost complete and are up for installation,” the official added.
