In 8 days, Rajasthan reports over 1 lakh new Covid infections | Jaipur News

The state reported 14,112 new cases in 24 hours on Sunday

JAIPUR: In just eight days, the state has reported over one lakh fresh Covid-19 cases. From January 16 to 23, the state reported 1,01,912 new infections.
During the current spike, the highest number of daily infections was reported on January 21, when 16,878 persons tested positive. For the past two days, the state has been reporting over 14,000 cases daily.
Taking the death toll to 9,095, 19 persons succumbed to the virus in the state on Sunday.
Follow Covid rules, says health dept
In January, 131 people have died due to Covid, so far.
While two deaths each were reported from Bikaner, Dausa, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu and Jodhpur, one each was reported from Udaipur, Tonk, Kota, Bundi,Bharatpur, Barmer and Ajmer.
The state reported 14,112 new cases in 24 hours on Sunday, bringing the overall tally to 11,29,902. Active cases too rose from 89,233 to 93,442.
Meanwhile, Jaipur reported 3,666 Covid cases. Active cases in Jaipur increased from 22,778 to 24,340 in 24 hours. Besides, Alwar reported 7,600 active cases, followed by Jodhpur (7,409), Udaipur (4,570), Bharatpur (4,217), Kota (3,700), Pali (3,536) and Ajmer (3,503).
Health department officials said that over 98% of the active cases in the state were under home isolation.
The department appealed to people to take precautions and follow Covid appropriate behaviour to avoid the risk of getting infected.
It is also focusing more on vaccination and has set a 100% target for administering the first dose by January 31. The department is also actively giving the second dose.
