NEW DELHI: India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was on Friday injured in a car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway near Roorkee while returning home.
He was driving the car himself and has suffered injuries on his forehead, back and legs.
Pictures from the accident site suggest the car crashed into the road divider on the highway at high speed and caught fire. Pant could be seen on a hospital bed with his forehead heavily bandaged, while another picture shows him being treated for serious bruises on his back.

Pant has been admitted to the Max Hospital in Dehradun.
“Cricketer Rishabh Pant’s car met with an accident between Manglaur and Narsan in Haridwar district. He has been shifted to Max Hospital Dehradun after getting primary treatment at Roorkee Civil Hospital. The accident took place on NH-58 of Manglaur PS area,” said Swapan Kishore, Haridwar SP (Rural)
“We are on our way to hospital. Rishabh is a fighter and he will overcome this soon. We got the news and now we all are rushing to the hospital,” said Pant’s sister when contacted by Timesofindia.com.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami tweeted in Hindi,” Praying for the speedy recovery of cricketer Rishabh Pant, who was injured in a vehicle accident, have directed the officials to ensure all possible arrangements for his treatment.”
Delhi and District Cricket Association secretary Siddharth Sahib Singh also expressed his concern.
“We are all concerned but thankfully he is stable. We at DDCA are keeping a tab and wish him a speedy recovery,” said Singh in a DDCA statement.

Pant is not part of India’s upcoming ODI and T20I series at home against Sri Lanka. He was due to leave for Bengaluru to be at the National Cricket Academy for a strength and conditioning programme.
Pant has scored 2,271 runs in 33 Tests so far with the help of five hundreds and 11 fifties. He has also represented the country in 30 ODIs and 66 T20Is.
