11 Cops Suspended For Lapses That Led To Jaghina’s Killing | Jaipur News

Similarly, six constables and one head-constable from the Jaipur police, who were transporting Jaghina in the same bus, also faced action and were suspended.
Officials said that a total of 11 cops have been suspended for their lapses.
Following the incident, DGP Umesh Mishra assigned IG (CID) Prafulla Kumar to conduct an independent probe into the matter.
The findings highlighted that the police did not respond appropriately when the assailants attacked the bus transporting Jaghina.
According to officials, there was also a lack of proper communication between the jail authorities of Bharatpur and Jaipur central jails. This communication gap arose because the Bharatpur police had categorised Jaghina as a hardcore criminal. Indeed, classifying Jaghina as a hardcore criminal should have prompted the jail authorities and Jaipur police to make arrangements for high-security transportation.
As per the report, the investigating officer (IO) assigned to the case should have explored the possibility of conducting online appearances through video-conferencing with Jaghina, using the public prosecutor as an intermediary. Subsequently, the DGP forwarded the report to the ADG (Vigilance) for further investigation and necessary action.
Sources said that the the vigilance division informed police authorities in Jaipur and Bharatpur to take requisite action for lapses that led to the incident.
