AJMER: Two minor brothers died after they fell in a rain-fed nullah in Bumbani village on Monday night.
On Tuesday, villagers refused to take the bodies and demanded compensation and action against the owner of brick unit that allegedly dumps clay in nullahs due to which water collects at one place. After persuasion by the administration, family members agreed to take the bodies for last rites.
According to Gegal police, Dhoni Rawat (11) and Rahul Rawat (9), sons of Mahendra Rawat and residents of Bumbani village, were grazing their goats near a brick production unit outside the village. There was clay everywhere and one brother slipped in the clay while the other tried to rescue him. Both drowned in the water collected because of rain. Police reached the spot and took out the bodies. Villagers refused to take the bodies and sat on dharna.
SDM Mahaveer Singh and additional SP Vaibhav Sharma reached the spot and tried to pacify the villagers and assured action against the brick unit owner.
Police said that they have got a written complaint against the brick production unit and were investigating the matter.
