5l Aid For Marrying Divyang Raises Questions | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot, while presenting the Budget on Friday, announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for those who marry a special-abled person with 80% disability.
However, Divyang Adhikar Mahasangh’s Hemant Bhai Goyal pointed out that this could lead to misuse of the opportunity. “The person may call off the marriage after receiving the money. The government must ensure that this opportunity is not misused by the beneficiaries,” said Goyal.
The chief minister also increased the financial assistance provided to special-abled persons, involved in self-employment, from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. For inter-caste marriage, financial assistance has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to 10 lakh. Goyal also raised concern over the possibility of specially abled persons getting deprived of the dearness relief package announced by Gehlot on Friday. Under the package, about 1 crore NFSA families would be provided free ration along with ‘CM Free Annapurna Food Packets’ every month and about 76 lakh families would be provided LPG gas cylinders at Rs 500.
“Since PwDs have not been linked with the NFSA portal and BPL guidelines for specially abled persons have not been issued yet, they might be deprived of the benefits of the scheme. Moreover, the chief minister has announced setting up of a university for PwDs in Jodhpur,” he said. tnn
