Govt Honours 20 For Their Act Of Kindness | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Ram Chandra Meena (61), who retired from the government-run MB Medical College, Udaipur as a lab technician, will be missed at the hospital.
Having donated blood for 90 times, Meena was among 20 blood donors who were honoured at a state-level felicitation ceremony on the occasion of World Blood Donation Day on Wednesday at Swasthya Bhawan.
Along with them, the health department also honoured 20 voluntary organisations who have contributed in saving lives by donating blood and encouraging others to do the same. This year’s theme is “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often”. “I donated blood for the first time in 1986 at MB Hospital when the husband of a woman denied donating blood for her. I donated blood for the first time and it was such a satisfying feeling that I continued this till now,” said Meena.
He said that he had donated blood for 90 times and he is willing to donate 100 times. “I am 61 now and I can donate till 65 years, four times a year. I am confident that I will touch the 100 mark,” said Meena. Among those felicitated were donors who had already donated blood more than 100 times. BL Meel donated blood 110 times in the individual blood donation category, Subhash Kumar Sethi donated blood 108 times, Ravikant Sasna donated blood 107 times, while Ravinderpal Singh Kappu donated blood 100 times.
While addressing at the felicitation ceremony of blood donors and voluntary organisations, National health mission (NHM) mission director (state) Jitendra Kumar Soni said blood donors are life givers. He said, efforts should be made to increase participation of women in blood donation activities, publicise contact numbers of trauma centres, holding donation camps on religious occasions and fairs, increase public awareness of blood donation with the goal of ‘First blood donation – with us’.
State nodal officer, Blood Cell Dr Girish Dwivedi said on the occasion of Blood Donor Day, over 200 camps are being organised across the state including the state headquarters and 14 blood collection mobile vehicles are also providing services in blood donation camps.
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) on the occasion also organised a blood donation camp at the premises of its 191 Battalion on Wednesday. The camp was supervised by BSF sector north chief medical officer Dr Suchandra Dey.
