Jaipur: SMS Medical College’s department of transfusion medicine is using a strategy for dealing with shortage of availability of blood of specific groups. The SMS Hospital is providing blood in replacement. If a patient is requiring blood, the hospital asks the patient’s attendants to donate the blood. If the patient required one unit of blood and it has four donors, the hospital will take one unit of blood from one donor. The hospital will first conduct screening of the three donors and collect the blood from the donor who has a specific blood group, the availability of which is short.
