Jaipur: Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, said that the goal of the cooperative movement is not only the development of the farmers but also the development of society at large. He was speaking at the Sahakar Kisan Sammelan in Gangapur City on Saturday. “The cooperative movement has reduced our import liabilities. It has also reduced dependence on big financial institutions through various initiatives like interest-free loans,” said Birla. He added that the setting up of a separate Ministry for Cooperatives and the recent policy initiatives have revitalised and strengthened the cooperative sector in India.
