Rajasthan’s Kamdhenu Pashu Bima Yojana benefits extended to just 40 lakh against 1.10 crore registered families | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Under the Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Pashu Bima Yojana, over 1.10 crore families had registered themselves during the state government’s inflation relief camps (Mehangai Rahat Camps). However, for now, the benefits of the scheme would be provided to just 40 lakh families/cattle owners.
The scheme was launched by chief minister Ashok Gehlot, in the presence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, on Wednesday. The animal husbandry department argued that the remaining 70 lakh families (1.40 crore milch animals) would be covered under the insurance scheme after a thorough verification to find out if these own milk-producing animals.
“Over 1.10 crore families in Rajasthan have registered themselves under the Kamdhenu Pashu Bima Yojana during the inflation relief camp. However, all the registered families may not have milch animals. Therefore, the department will conduct a verification to find out if the remaining families (70 lakh) own milk-producing animals. The benefits will be extended to them as and when they require it,” said Dr Bhawani Singh Rathore, director, directorate of animal husbandry.
As per the provision of the scheme, on the death of a milch animal, a compensation of Rs 40,000 would be provided per animal to the cattle owner/family as an insurance claim. The benefits of the scheme would be extended to two animals per family, taking total benefits to Rs 80,000.
Meanwhile, the veterinary doctors’ association of Rajasthan has decided to boycott the Kamdhenu free insurance scheme for bovines as the chief minister’s announcement of a special allowance of Rs 5,000 per month to veterinary doctors is unacceptable.
