ATS arrests Bhilwara man for anti-national social media post

JAIPUR: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan Police has arrested a 22-year-old man from Bhilwara for allegedly inciting people to anti-national activities with his posts on social media and also supporting the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI) and maintaining communication with foreign nationals.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the ATS announced the arrest of Sohail Bishti, a native of Shahpura district who is currently residing in the neighbouring Bhilwara district. Additionally, the police seized two mobile phones from the accused for further examination and investigation.
The ATS also stated that it had received information about Bishti’s illegal activities which included instigating people for anti-national activities on social media, supporting the PFI, and maintaining communication with foreign nationals.
Following these allegations, the ATS arrested the accused and filed a case against him. Interrogation of the accused is currently underway as part of the ongoing investigation, the ATS said.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is already conducting an investigation into a case related to the banned outfit PFI’s activities in Rajasthan. They have carried out numerous searches in the state as part of this investigation.
In March this year, the agency filed a chargesheet against two individuals who were arrested as members of the banned organization. This case pertains to the activities of violent extremism pursued by the outfit in Rajasthan. In the chargesheet against the two suspects, the agency had accused them of promoting enmity between different groups.
