NICU Charges: Govt Caps Fees For Treatment Of Newborns Under Rghs | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Under Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS), the state government has made changes for treatment of children in neonatal ICU (NICU).
The state government has put a cap on rates for NICU without ventilator for medical management in empanelled RGHS hospitals. In the order issued on October 4, the state government has put a capping for doctor’s fee, for which Rs 700 is fixed, Rs 405 as NICU charges, Rs 1,000 as medicines, and Rs 192 for pediatric care of the newborn. The duration of stay of the patient is now restricted to five days.
The rates for NICU with ventilator for medical management has also been fixed. It will be Rs 700 as doctor’s fees, Rs 405 as NICU charges, Rs 1000 as medicines, Rs 596 as pneupac ventilator in nursery and Rs 192 for paediatric care for newborn baby.
Besides, the state gobernment has mentioned in the order that for the length of stay in the case of cancer surgery, the duration of treatment will be considered at par with central government hospital services (CGHS)’s beneficiaries.
The state government has made changes in cost of medicines. The order says, that no prior approval is needed for higher cost medicines. Hospital will produce bills at the time of discharge of patient, which will be duly checked at the level of RGHS. The hospital will be bound to submit their claims of medicines on the same rates as other pharma stores supply medicines to RGHS card holders that is 12% deduction for ethical medicines and 40% deduction for generic medicines.

Nanded hospital dean, doctor booked for death of woman, newborn
The dean and the paediatric head of Dr Shankarrao Chavan GMCH in Nanded have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder after the deaths of a woman and her newborn. The accused doctors are alleged to have failed to provide medicines and treatment, leading to the fatalities. The father of the deceased woman has claimed that he was forced to purchase medicines from outside the hospital. The case comes after the dean was recently made to clean dirty toilets at the hospital.
