Low wind speed & dip in mercury turn air quality ‘very poor’ again in Gurgaon
The air quality in Gurgaon has returned to “very poor” levels due to slow winds, undoing the slight improvement seen the day before. The city’s 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 363, which is 22% higher than the previous day’s reading. The highest pollution levels were recorded at the Section 51 monitoring station, with an AQI of 406, classified as “severe.” The deteriorating air quality is attributed to meteorological conditions, uncontrolled emissions, and pollution from vehicles and industries.

NDC Synthesis report, insufficient progress made to limit global temp rise to 1.5 degrees celsius, CoP28 must set stage for immediate action
The UN’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Synthesis Report reveals that national climate action plans are insufficient in limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius. More action is needed to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. The report emphasizes the importance of the upcoming CoP28 in Dubai as a turning point for governments to agree on stronger climate actions and demonstrate how to implement them. The report also highlights the need to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 43% by 2030 and stresses the significance of the Global Stocktake in informing future climate action plans.
